Here is Farrah's story in her own words:
5 years ago my OBGYN finally convinced me to take the genetic test for BRAC. After completing this study, I was told I have the BRAC1 gene (Breast and ovarian cancer - my mom, aunt, cousins all have had Breast cancer). So with having that I have to do a test every 6 months (MRI and mammogram).
On Tuesday, I went for my 6 month check up (my lovely mammogram). They also had to do an ultra sound because they found something suspicious. So then on Wednesday, I had my check up with my breast specialist and they did another ultrasound with a biopsy of a mass that they found on my right breast. Sent that off...and Friday I got the call I have been dreading for the past 5 years. I was told that I have Stage 1 Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
This past week has been a whirlwind...going to this doctor and then another and then another. I met with my breast specialist for a run down of what is to be expected. I met with a plastic surgeon. I've met with a fertility doctor. Gotten another MRI and then finally today met with my Oncologist. All of these amazing nurses and doctors have rallied, and I have to say...I'm in good hands.
The oncologist told me today that I will start my rounds of chemo first. Before this happens I will have to get a port put in and meet with a cardiologist. I'm not sure when this will happen, but it will be very soon (like next week they are thinking). After that, I will start my intensive treatments to get this little 1.6mm tumor out of me.
As of today, I'm on strict NO CONTACT / TOTAL ISOLATION orders.
I'll try to keep this updated on my progress, but if you want to message me...I would love that even more. I know this post isn't personal, but it's the best we have for what's going on right now. PLease! Please! Please! pray for me (or think of me) during this time? Please pray for my family during this crazy thing that we now call life. and Pray for my team of doctors and nurses. #teamsunshine #wegotthis #kickingcancer #imtooyoungforthis
